Why does buying new pieces of technology have to be so distasteful even for those of us who are blessed with a good technological know how.
I recently went to a major chain to purchase a new laptop. It was much more difficult than I had originally thought it would be. Did I want 14 inches, 15 inches or 16 inches, what about Blu-Ray, 4GB, HDMI, so many choices. The other issue then becomes trying to find someone at a major chain who is willing to help you.
The other thing is once you have found the model you want you then have to make it out of the store without the thousand and one add ons they want to sell you such as them installing Windows. I am sorry $30 for "installing" windows what a joke!! All you have to do is click a couple of buttons and there it goes fully installed. Wow that was tough.
Next comes the extended warranty. I am buying a $800 laptop and the extended warranty is $200. I think I will take my chances given every electronic device I have ever had either broke during the first year (so covered by factory warranty) or lasted for years.
The final thing is Windows Vista. How much do I hate you Windows Vista? It really starts with my first computer loaded with Vista. A friend of mine had bought a computer and it had XP on it. I thought it was a fantastic computer, great graphics, nice and fast so I bought the same computer four months later and it came loaded with Vista. Surprising it was much slower than my friends and the graphics weren't great. Apparently Vista is such a memory hog that it made my computer relatively sad compared to my friends.
This time around Vista makes my network connection drop constantly. I can't wait for Windows 7.
